ProPublica, an independent journalism site, has released a new comprehensive list of Catholic clergy members who have been accused of sexual abuse. 24 priests from Cherry Hill, New Jersey made the newest version of this list. These “credibly accused” priests have direct ties to the Cherry Hill area and are on the same list that includes nearly 200 priests in New Jersey. The Diocese of Camden has not revealed the reasons for the allegations against the Cherry Hill clergy, but names and places served of the accused priests are now public information. ProPublica also recognizes the challenges that survivors face when attempting to bring forth their clergy abuse cases and identifying their abusers. The Catholic Church’s responses to survivor claims have become more proactive but they still have work to do on the betterment of church leaders.
